Federer will be back in Dubai in 2019

Federer has won the event in the United Arab Emirates seven times and is the record holder of the tournament that has been held since 1993. The Swiss refused to take part in Dubai last year.

Andy Murray, who was absent last year due to hip problems and will end his career after Wimbledon at the latest, is also starting in Dubai. Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori, in addition to Federer, are two other top ten players.

Field of participants better than last year

With Karen Khachanov, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Borna Coric, the new generation is also strongly represented at the Dubai Tennis Championships. The field of participants is therefore much stronger than that of a year ago. In the previous year, Grigor Dimitrov was in first place.

The event will take place from February 25th to March 3rd, 2019. At the same time, a top-class 500 tournament will also take place in Acapulco, Mexico. The defending champion in Dubai is the Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut.
