The ATP-Playe'rs-Council usually only plays a background role in the world of tennis. It is true that important and far-reaching decisions are undoubtedly made in it, but in the public discussion the player representation within the Association of Tennis Professionals appears only to a minor extent, if at all.

That has changed this year. With initiator Novak Djokovic's plans to found a new, additional and independent players' association - a kind of union - there was much discussion about the representation of the ATP professionals. With the establishment of the new agency, however, the tennis world does not want to "split", as Djokovic also emphasized on the sidelines of the Nitto ATP finals in London. In an uncertain time, you need all possible alliances, says the industry leader.

It has become quiet around the PTPA these days, however, there is news to report from the ATP Player's Council. This was re-elected - although very little has changed in terms of personnel. Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, who have been in the game representation for some time, are still on board. Together with John Millmann and neo-member Felix Auger-Aliassime, they should represent the concerns of the top 50 in the world rankings.

Gilles Simon returns, Djokovic, as expected, not there

Also "new" is Gilles Simon, who will be part of the Players Council again after a break. The Frenchman sits together with the newly arrived Spaniard Pablo Andujar as a representative of the world rankings 51-100 in the Council. The Australian Marcus Daniell and Bruno Soares have been nominated for the top 100 in the world rankings in doubles. The former is also a new face in the game agency. The new President and Vice President are to be elected at the Council's first meeting.

On the part of the active players, Kevin Anderson and Andy Murray are also part of the council, they are listed under the bracket "At-large". Colin Dowdeswell (alumni) and Daniel Vallverdu (coaches) complete the ATP Player's Council. It is also completely official that Novak Djokovic could not also become part of the ATP game representation, as briefly said in the room. The Serb had already denied this shortly before Christmas - and will now probably concentrate on the work of the PTPA.
