With “King Richard” a Hollywood spectacle awaits us from November 19th of this year with audience favorite Will Smith in the lead role. The hard-wage earner from Philadelphia gives the father of the two Williams sisters, Richard Williams, who also goes unconventional ways to lead his two daughters from the streets of Compton, California to the great tennis stages of the world.

If you can't wait that long or if you urgently need new film food with a tennis theme for whatever other reason, the new French film “Final Set” (original name “Cinquième set”) can help. Although there is still no official release date for the German-speaking countries, the film is expected to hit cinemas in the USA in the next few weeks.

European star cast included

What is it all about? The fictional tennis player Thomas J. Edison would like to know again at the age of 37. Despite several surgical interventions and the warnings from wife Eve and mother Judith, the former tennis hope wants to prove it again and compete at the French Open in Paris. In order to win the coveted tournament victory in the end, however, a victory over the 17-year-old super talent Damien Thosso must also be achieved.

The main role is played by Alex Lutz, a highly decorated French actor who won the coveted César in the category “Best Leading Actor” at the Paris Film Festival in 2019. With Kristin Scott Thomas, there is also an Oscar-nominated British actress who, in addition to three nominations, also won the BAFTA Award, Great Britain's largest film award. As soon as the film is available in German-speaking countries, you will of course find out from us.
