French Open 2020 draw: Zverev opens against Novak, Djokovic with luck, Nadal vs. Thiem possible semi-final duel

The men's draw for the French Open, which starts on September 27th, is here. Novak Djokovic got a good draw, defending champion Rafael Nadal could meet Dominic Thiem in the semifinals. Alexander Zverev ended up in the same quarter as the Spaniard and initially plays against Dennis Novak .

World number one Novak Djokovic opens in Paris against Mikael Ymer. Then it would go for the 17-time Grand Slam winner against Hugo Dellien or Ricardas Berankis. In the third round, the first seeded player could wait with Hubert Hurkacz. The Serbian’s potential opponent in the quarter-final is Matteo Berrettini, who is sixth.

In the semifinals, the industry leader could meet Daniil Medvedev or Stefanos Tsitsipas. Medvedev plays in the first round against Marton Fucsovcis, Tsitsipas against Jaume Munar.

Nadal to the quarterfinals with a good draw

The twelve-time French Open winner Rafael Nadal has to deal with Egor Gerasimov in the first round. If successful, the 34-year-old would duel with Mackenzie McDonald or a qualifier before Dan Evans would be the planned opponent in the third round. According to the seeding list, Nadals continued his way to the semi-finals via John Isner or Fabio Fognini (round of 16) and Alexander Zverev (quarter-finals).

The German contests his opening match against the Austrian Dennis Novak. After that, the 23-year-old would face Pierre Hugues-Herbert or a qualifier. The first opponents set would be Alex de Minaur (third round) and Benoit Paire or David Goffin (round of 16).

With Dominic Thiem, the US Open winner could wait for the winner of the encounter between Nadal and Zverev in the semifinals. We took a closer look at the draw of the Austrian in this article .

Murray vs. Wawrinka to start with

Aside from the absolute superstars, there are two special highlight games at the start: David Goffin vs. Jannik Sinner and Andy Murray vs. Stan Wawrinka.
