Rublev and Tsitsipas faced each other less than two weeks ago in the final of the ATP Tour 500 tournament in Hamburg. On the first day of the French Open 2020, mind you, the special circumstances of the current tennis year made it possible. In Hamburg, Tsitsipas served 5: 3 in the decisive set to win the match, Rublev made a brilliant comeback. The Russian was not granted that in Paris: Stefanos Tsitsipas won 7: 5, 6: 2 and 6: 3 and made it into the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the second time after the Australian Open 2019.

Rublev got off to a better start in another duel with Tsitsipas, leading 5: 3 in the first set. This time it was up to Stefanos Tsitsipas to roll up the match from behind. Tsitsipas not only won four games in a row, but also took the second round with him quickly and painlessly. The early break in the third act gave Rublev the rest. Tsitsipas missed the first match point after 1:50 hours of play, the second was used by the man from Athens on the net.

Industry leader Novak Djokovic and Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta will meet in the second quarter-finals on Wednesday, just like a few weeks ago in New York City. Back then, Djokovic was disqualified after accidentally shooting a ball in the throat of a line judge. Also in the semifinals are Paris record winner Rafael Nadal and the Argentine Diego Schwartzman.
