Baez started much better, after winning the first set, the Argentine led 4-0 in the second round and even had chances for a third break. Zverev got into the match better at this point, but was no longer able to seize the second act. Sets three and four then went easily to the favourite.

In the decision, Baez first claimed victory and took a 4-2 lead with a break. Zverev immediately countered, then equalized with his own serve to make it 4: 4. After 3:24 hours, Zverev had to fend off his opponent's first match point, which he did with a good serve. Zverev took the momentum with him and now presented himself with a break. And finally served up.

Zverev did the same with Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek was 2-0 down against Lorenzo Musetti in Tuesday's night session, but then turned things around. In the third round, Zverev meets either the Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor or the American Brandon Nakashima.
