The youngest player in the tableau fought to the end, the audience did what they could to prolong the match between Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek. In the end, however, all the fighting and cheering didn't help: Because the world number one from Poland also won her 35th individual match in a row. This time with 6: 1 and 6: 3. It was Swiatek's second triumph at the Bois de Boulogne after 2020, where she remained successful in the autumn without dropping a set. And the third in the third attempt against Gauff.

The 18-year-old Gauff started her first final at a Grand Slam tournament understandably nervous, after 31 minutes the first set was already lost 1:6. The outsider from Florida got off to a better start in round two: Gauff quickly led 2-0 with a break, Swiatek equalized just as quickly to make it 2-2. And followed up with the break to make it 4:2. Swiatek exploited every little weakness in Gauff, repeatedly scoring down the line with her backhand. After an hour and eight minutes of play, Iga Swiatek was allowed to celebrate. Just in time - because in the very last game a thunderstorm announced itself with loud thunder.

While Swiatek further consolidated the top position in the WTA charts with her triumph (on Monday the 21-year-old will have more than twice as many points as the new runner-up Anett Kontaveit), Gauff will set a new career high in the world rankings after reaching the final reach. The teenager jumps to 13th place.
