Casper Ruud wins the Scandinavian duel against Holger Rune

Here is the match to read in the live tracker!

With Holger Rune and Casper Ruud, two Scandinavians met in the fourth and last quarter-final match at the French Open 2022. And in doing so, two completely different types of players challenged each other: while the 19-year-old Dane chose genius and madness as his leitmotif, the Norwegian, four years his senior, scored with fighting qualities and a constantly controlled game.

In the end, the quiet routine of the eighth-ranked man from Oslo won - Ruud secured a deserved 6:1,-4:6,-7:6(2),-6:3 win after 3:15 hours of play and stands thus in his first Grand Slam semi-final. So far, reaching the round of 16 at the Australian Open 2021 was the northerner's best major result.

In the semifinals, Ruud will face Croatian Marin Cilic, who eliminated Russia's Andrey Rublev in five tight sets early on Wednesday evening. In head-to-head, the eighth in the world rankings leads 2-0. Neither in Rome 2020 nor in Toronto the previous year was the ten-year-old South Slavs granted a match success.

Here the single tableau from Paris.
