Defending champion Kevin Krawietz also cleared the second hurdle of the French Open in doubles alongside Horia Tecau. The 29-year-old Coburg and his Romanian partner beat Yoshihito Nishioka / Lu Yen-Hsun (Japan / Taiwan) on Friday 6: 3, 6: 2 and are in the round of 16.

At this year's edition in Paris, Krawietz has to do without his usual partner Andreas Mies, with whom he won the clay court classic in 2019 and 2020. Mies had an operation on his knee in February.

Also in the round of the last 16 is Tim Pütz from Frankfurt, who with Hugo Nys (Monaco) eliminated the number three seeded Rajeev Ram / Joe Salisbury (USA / England) 6: 4, 6: 4.
