The world ranking first Novak Djokovic has underpinned his position as one of the top favorites in Roland Garros with a befitting start. The winner from 2016 beat Hubert Hurkacz 6: 4, 6: 2, 6: 2 and hardly let anything burn. With his own serve, he only gave 13 points.

Round two also seems feasible: This is against Swiss lucky loser Henri Laaksonen, who benefited from Sam Querrey's cancellation and solved his first round task of Pedro Martinez in three rounds.

Stan Wawrinka, winner from 2015, is also on 24. "Stan the Man" won against Jozef Kovalik 6: 1, 6: 7 (3), 6: 2, 6: 1 and now faces Cristian Garin, who served serve giant Reilly Opelka in three close sets from the competition.
