Rafael Nadal could be seen one time or another in the night session

A big question mark is currently hovering over the French Open: In view of the rising Corona numbers, a nationwide lockdown has been declared in France until at least the beginning of May, an extension is currently not ruled out in view of the dramatic developments. The second Grand Slam tournament of the year could also be affected by the measures taken by the French government , with a "delay of a few days" most likely .

According to plan, the clay court classic should take place from May 23rd to June 6th, the start of the qualification is scheduled a week in advance. But regardless of the discussion about the start date, the organizers of the French Open now apparently made another sensational decision.

Two women's matches a day

According to a report by RMC Sport , the night sessions planned for the first time this year will be reserved exclusively for men. On the first ten days of the tournament, the men's tableau will be played on Court Philippe Chatrier from 9:00 p.m. CET. On the day from 12:00 CET onwards, two women’s games and a men’s match would take place on the largest square in the facility.

At the Australian Open and the US Open, a women's and a men's encounter will take place in the night sessions. Incidentally, Roland Garros had their first experiences with games at night last year: the quarter-finals between Rafael Nadal and Jannik Sinner only ended at 1:26 a.m.CET .
