Petra Kvitova has to end her French Open early

What bad luck for Petra Kvitova! As the world number twelfth announced on Tuesday, their French Open ended unexpectedly early. The Czech suffered an injury after her opening success against the Belgian Greet Minnen after she fell in the course of press activities.

"I fell and injured my ankle, after an MRI and a long talk with my team, I made the tough decision that it would be unwise to play with it," Kvitova shared on social media. It was a great disappointment to have to announce her withdrawal from the French Open, emphasized Kvitova.

Osaka is also withdrawing

Last year the Czech had reached the semi-finals in Roland Garros, now the trip ends before the second round. For Kvitova, good regeneration and suitable preparation for the upcoming lawn season are now on the agenda. At Wimbledon, the highlight of that, the Czech won both of her two Grand Slam titles.

For the organizers of the Grand Slam at the Bois de Bolougne, it is already the second withdrawal from the tournament within a few hours. It was only on Monday evening that the number two in the women's tennis world, the Japanese Naomi Osaka, announced that she would be withdrawing from the tournament. Previously, Osaka's announcement that it would not take part in a press conference at the tournament caused a lot of buzz.
