Qualification begins on Monday in Paris

Originally, the second main draw day of the French Open should have taken place on May 24, 2021, but after the pandemic-related postponement, qualification will not begin until Monday. The day before, the draw for just those in Paris rose - and this brought with it a real highlight from a German-Austrian point of view on the men's side.

Because Tobias Kamke and Jurij Rodionov meet in the first round. The game takes place on Monday as the fourth after 10:30 a.m. on court 11, immediately afterwards the match between the Austrian Barbara Haas and the British Harriet Dart takes place on the same court.

Novak and Ofner have to wait

Also scheduled as the fifth match of the day is that of the second Austrian in the qualification, Julia Grabher. On Court 6, she faces the second-placed Aliona Bolsova. From a red-white-red perspective, however, Dennis Novak and Sebastian Ofner have to be patient: Their encounters against Mario Vilella Martinez and Juan Pablo Varillas will not take place until Tuesday.

The German fans, on the other hand, can look forward to a little more stakes from their compatriots on tournament day one. In addition to Kamke, there are two men, Maximilian Marterer and Yannick Maden, and three women, Mona Barthel, Anna-Lena Friedsam and Tamara Korpatsch.

A total of eight German players (in addition Matthias Bachinger, Peter Gojowczyk, Daniel Masur, Cedrik-Marcel Stebe and Oscar Otte) start for the men, four for the women (also Antonia Lottner).
