Noma Noha Akugue made it to the second round of French Open qualifiers

Of three German players, only one made it into the second round of the French Open qualification on Monday: The only 19-year-old Noma Noha Akugue defeated the local hero Emma Lene, who competed via wildcard in the preliminary round, after a 3:13 hour marathon match with 7:5, 4:6, 6:4. In the second qualifying round, Brazilian Laura Pigossi, who is ranked 22nd, is waiting.

The encounters between the two other DTB players who were in action today were not successful: Katharina Hobgarski failed clearly at the 25th seeded Belgian Greet Minnen with 4:6, 2:6. After that, Eva Lys was also lost in the 2:6, 6:3, 3:6 against Carolina Alves (Brazil).

On Tuesday, Tamara Korpatsch (against the Swede Mirjam Bjorklund), Mona Barthel (against Alice Tubello from France) and Laura Siegemund (against the young Czech Sara Bejlek) will try to make their first-round tasks positive.

Here is the individual qualification tableau from Paris.
