Stan Wawrinka won't play in Paris this year

It was at the end of March when Stan Wawrinka underwent a "minor operation" on his left foot and announced that he would have to take a break for "a few weeks". But apparently the three-time Grand Slam winner is still struggling with problems, as he canceled his participation in the French Open, which began on May 30, on Monday.

Wawrinka had already renounced all clay court tournaments, the 36-year-old played his last match to date on March 9 at the ATP 250 tournament in Doha - he lost in three sets against Lloyd Harris. Even before that, things had not gone smoothly for the Swiss this year: In none of his four tournament appearances did Wawrinka win more than two matches.

It is questionable when the 2015 French Open winner will return to the ATP tour. As the latest training pictures show, Wawrinka trains on a hard court at his second home in Monte Carlo. So there is also a big question mark behind his appearance at the lawn classic in Wimbledon.
