Stefanos Tsitsipas turned out to be a real comeback king in his second round duel with the Spaniard Pedro Martinez. In the first and second round, the Greek, who is going to the Frech Open with great ambitions, had to accept a break, but Tsitsipas managed to make up for this deficit in both sets and finally to gain a comfortable two-set lead.

In the third set it was a different game: This time Tsitsipas managed the early break - the decision in this game. The Greek could not take this lead and finally transported him to a sovereign 6: 3, 6: 4 and 6: 3 success. In the third round, Tsitsipas now meets the service giant John Isner, who surprisingly clearly got the upper hand against Filip Krajinovic.

Hard fights for Nishikori and Davidovich-Fokina

The Japanese Kei Nishikori had to fight much harder for his ticket in the round of 32. As in the first round, the veteran had to cover the full distance, ultimately defeating Russian Karen Khachanov 6: 4 in the decisive set. This had caused a curious situation in that one: After Khachanov had hit his bat furiously with his hand, the Russian needed a medical time-out because of a bleeding finger.

Botic van de Zandschulp and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina also performed a hot dance. The latter had the upper hand in the end, winning just like Nishikori 6: 4 in the fifth set. The Spaniard will now face Casper Ruud, who had no problems with Poland's Kamil Majchrzak. After Dominic Thiem went out, there is now room for a surprise in this quarter.

Another round further are the Italian Fabio Fognini, who defeated Marton Fucsovics, and Henri Laaksonen. The Swiss managed the big surprise on Wednesday and defeated the otherwise solid Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in four sets. Laaksonen won a duel with the previous marathon man of the French Open: Kei Nishikori. Fognini, on the other hand, meets Federico Delponis.
