The glamorous tennis and leisure center Habeler & Knotzer in Neudörfl was this time the scene of a highly ambitious hunt for points by the eastern Austrian tennis cracks, which will come to an end next weekend in Deutsch Wagram with the fifth and final tournament in the eastern region. Before that, however, the family-run tennis center Neudörfl presented itself with its six clay courts, a "real" center court, culinary delights at its finest and its affiliated hotel for well-traveled players in the perfect host role. In terms of sport, a native from the land of castles towered over the events of the past weekend: Christian Gisch from Podersdorf celebrated his third tournament victory as part of the qualification for the Generali Race to Kitzbühel.

Gisch meanwhile with a 13: 1 balance

It's getting tight at home in Christian Gisch's living room. The already third turquoise shimmering crystal needs space in the home of the likeable 32-year-old, who dominates the ITN 6 category of the eastern region in the Generali Race to Kitzbühel 2021 in a breathtaking way. Since his quarter-final defeat at the start of the scoring in Vienna against Hungary's young star Damijan Kelemen, the man who at first glance looks like a lumberjack with his long beard has been unbeaten and has been unbeaten in 11 games at ITN-6 level . Overall, the crystal collector from Podersdorf has an impressive record of 13: 1 victories, but even more important are the 34 points in the Race to Kitzbühel, with which Gisch is the first player to fix his ticket for the final hunt for the 34,000 Euro Cupra Formentor at the foot of the Hahnenkamm.

Burgenland hobby players better than their reputation

What else was going on at the only Generali Race to Kitzbühel qualifying tournament on Burgenland soil. Well: The tennis players from Burgenland, who are otherwise "ridiculed" in terms of ITN technology, have shown the competition from Vienna and Lower Austria over the past three days that even in the smallest and most eastern red-white-red federal state, well-maintained and above all successful tennis in the hobby area is played. Because the "Burgis" not only had "Triple-Pack Gisch" with Jakob Mandl in the 8-person competition, another individual winner. The 17-year-old from Mattersburg fought the Viennese Michael Kroneder 11: 9 in the match tie-break in the final, and with 10 points won he lifted himself into a brilliant starting position in the Race to Kitzbühel, in which the defeated Kroneder with his final points before the Closing event in Deutsch Wagram plays a decisive role.

The more than strong Burgenland impression was finally completed by two southern Burgenlanders, who were not very successful in singles and became the shining heroes of the double competition. Leon Kloiber and Matthias Radakovits defied a deficit in their five double matches in the popular and equally curious match-break handicap system, on the other hand they used a lead four times, and after winning the group in the preliminary round, they also secured the final success on the center court of TC Neudörfl against the briefly thrown together pairing Rösgen-Muhr with 10: 6. Now a trip to Deutsch Wagram is under discussion for the two victorious southern Burgenlanders in order to reach the final destination "Kitzbühel", which suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

ITN 3 tournament goes to Vienna, the remaining competitions to Lower Austria

In the strongest competition in the ITN 3 category, there was a final duel at eye level between the two Viennese HTT players Dominik Jaros from CTP Pötzleinsdorf and Josip Franjicevic from 1. TC Kaiserebersdorf. Jaros, who only won his group in the preliminary round due to a positive set ratio and thus reached the targeted final place, had to admit defeat in the match break as close as possible with 10:12 in the final. In the remaining competitions, the blue and yellow hobby players from Lower Austria struck. Christoph Lechner won the ITN 4 competition without losing a set, the completely wrongly classified Leon Zwittnig from TC Deutsch Wagram with only 7 games handed in the ITN 7 competition in a sovereign manner, and category 5 also went to Lower Austria, where Stefan Stippl after his triumph in With the second qualifying title, Baden will probably already be able to book his hotel in Kitzbühel at the end of July.
