In the official tournament schedule there is talk of Djokovic's neck injury, because of which he skips the double. Instead, the alternates Dusan Lajovic and Nikola Cacic (both Serbia) slide into the main field of the double grid.

In the individual, Djokovic gets to do with Ricardas Berankis after a first-round bye in the second round. The Lithuanian defeated the wild card holder Paul on Saturday 6: 7 (4) 6: 4 7: 5. It was only the second Masters 1000 win in Berankis' career, the first in over nine years. It currently ranks 72nd in the world rankings. The duel with Djokovic is expected to take place on Monday.
