The Augsburg lost on Friday evening in the quarterfinals against Great Britain the first single against Kyle Edmund 3: 6, 5: 7. The selection of the German Tennis Federation (DTB) thus requires a victory of Jan-Lennard Struff (Warstein) against Daniel Evans to avert the Aus.
The British had surprisingly renounced their star player Andy Murray (32), captain Leon Smith instead nominated Edmunds and Evans for the two singles. In the potentially decisive doubles, the French Open winners Kevin Krawietz / Andreas Mies (Coburg / Cologne) get to deal with Murray's one year older brother Jamie and Neal Skupski. There, however, short-term bills are still possible.
The winner of the match will fight against hosts Spain for Rafael Nadal or Argentina for the final in the new final tournament on Saturday (not before 17.30 / DAZN). In the previous year Germany was still in the old mode in the quarterfinals failed to Spain.
