Laver Cup 2022: Jack Sock back, Nick Kyrgios not for the first time

The "Big 4" are all at the start for the European selection at the Laver Cup in 2022, so Team World will have to stretch a lot. With Jack Sock you have now got a reliable supplier of points.

It was only announced about two weeks ago that Novak Djokovic would also serve at the Laver Cup this year (September 23-25, 2022 in London). Alongside Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and comebacker Roger Federer. For the first time, the four best tennis players of recent years are united to win the title - it would be the fifth for Team Europe in five editions. /

Team World? Has always come up empty. At least they have now confirmed another competitor: Jack Sock will serve for Team World, and with that they have a hitherto quite successful Laver Cup man on board again. Because although Sock has fallen a long way in the ATP ranking (but is currently back in the top 100), he was always at the start of the Laver Cup and was a reliable supplier of points, especially in doubles.

No wonder: After his wrist injury in 2018, Sock played more in doubles and hit it hard - including two wins in the majors. In September 2018 he was ranked No. 2 in the double world.

And Socks double strength will be needed: Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz and Diego Schwartzman have been confirmed alongside him so far, so there is still one place available.

Nick Kyrgios wants to go to Australia

Nick Kyrgios will not fill it: The Australian has also been a permanent guest at the Laver Cup so far, but now he has announced that he will not play this year.

"I need my time at home with my family and my beautiful girlfriend," Kyrgios wrote on social media.

There is also still one candidate open for Team Europe.
