Berrettini shared this via Instagram.

"Following the advice of my medical experts, my team and I have decided that it is critical not to put any pressure on my recovery," the 25-year-old wrote.

He will thus forego the tournaments in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome - the cancellation for Rome in particular was a tough decision, according to the Italian. "But it's the right one to play at the highest level for many years to come and compete for the biggest trophies."

Berrettini announced a few days ago that he had to undergo minor surgery on his hand.

However, Berrettini still seems to have hope for a start at the French Open from May 22nd.
