As various media reported on Friday, the ban imposed last year is to be abolished at this year's edition of the Grand Slam tournament (July 3rd to 16th).

"All expectations point to the AELTC lifting the ban on Russians and Belarusians," wrote the Daily Telegraph . The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), which hosts Wimbledon, had excluded Russian and Belarusian players from the lawn tournament after the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine last year. As a result, the ATP and WTA players' associations decided not to award world ranking points at Wimbledon 2022.

Wimbledon is the only one of the four Grand Slam tournaments that has taken such a step. Russian and Belarusian players were admitted to the Australian Open last January and the French Open and US Open last year. Likewise, they are still allowed to participate in tournaments on the tour, but not under their country's flag.
