The number 1 of the tournament, Novak Djokovic , begins his run for the title after a walk-through against Philipp Kohlschreiber or Thanasi Kokkinakis. Small reminder: "Kohli" only recently defeated the "Djoker" in Indian Wells. After that, Kyle Edmund could wait, in a quarter-final to Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Dominic Thiem ended up number 4 in Djokovic's half. He starts against Martin Klizan or a qualifier, after which David Goffin could wait. A quarter-finals, strictly according to ranking, would be against Karen Khachanov.

Alexander Zverev, placed on three, is in the lower half and has a walk-through in round one. In the first match, it could go straight to the man of the hour - the 18-year-old Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, who played from a place outside the top 100 to the top 30 in the world within just a few weeks and via wildcard in Monte Carlo is there. For Zverev, who last failed early in Marrakech, this would be a tough test right from the start. A quarter-final would be against Kei Nishikori.

Rafael Nadal , record winner (11 titles!) And number 2 on the seed list, faces Roberto Bautista Agut or John Millman, in round 3 it could be against Denis Shapovalov. Also in Nadal's neighborhood: Marin Cilic and Stan Wawrinka.

Exciting matches in round 1: Stan Wawrinka - Lucas Pouille, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga - Taylor Fritz, Denis Shapovalov - Jan-Lennard Struff

Gael Monfils, originally on the Djokovic branch, has withdrawn due to an injury to his right ankle after the draw.
