Will we see Novak Djokovic on a tennis court in the coming weeks - or will the Wimbledon champ have to wait until the end of the US Open to go back to his job? The bigger questions in tennis are current, and Djokovic probably doesn't know it himself yet. /

As he recently explained, he still hopes to be able to travel to Canada and especially to the USA in order to be able to play the final major tournament of the year there. But he also said, "If I have a permit, I'll be there. If I don't have one, then I won't. Then it's not the end of the world either."

The background: Djokovic is still not vaccinated against Corona and has no plans to change that. And both Canada and the USA require a vaccination to enter the country.

Most recently, Djokovic played and triumphed in Wimbledon, in the final against Nick Kyrgios. It was his seventh All England Club title.

Djokovic petition with more than 12,000 signatures

Djokovic is currently registered for the Masters tournaments in Toronto (from August 8th) and Cincinnati (from August 15th) - an automatism, however; at the Masters events, reporting is by ranking, players are listed until they unsubscribe.

Hoping and waiting is apparently not enough for Djokovic fans: they have now started a petition on the change.org page with which they want to get the US government and the US Tennis Association to rethink so that Djokovic can play. Does it help? Rather questionable. Just over 12,000 Djokovic friends have signed at the moment.
