The wait is actually not that long anymore. While the Nitto ATP finals were an unwelcome change for Austrian tennis fans - for the first time in five seasons they went without the local figurehead Dominic Thiem - it is now less than a month until the world number 15. will play his scheduled first match after the injury break.

In several interviews a few weeks ago, the Lichtenwörther emphasized that he was working towards the Mubadala World Tennis Championship. The show event in Abu Dhabi will start on December 16 - Rafael Nadal has also announced its start. Just like Dominic Thiem, the Spaniard would like to play his first professional matches at the exhibition tournament after a long injury break.

Dominic Thiem reports with video

The hot phase of preparation for his first appearance after almost six months has now apparently reached Dominic Thiem, a few days ago the current number 15 in the ATP world rankings published a video on social media that shows Thiem doing some backhand topspins. The arm work of the 28-year-old already seems to be running smoothly again.

"I'm going there," wrote the Austrian underneath. The recovery process is showing the first results for Lichtenwörther, who had to pause for a few months after a wrist injury at the ATP 250 event in Mallorca. The Mubadala World Tennis Championship in just under a month is of course only an interim goal for Thiem, as the Austrian wants to show his first brilliant performances at the ATP Cup and especially the Australian Open again on the ATP tour.
