Vasek Pospisil fights for the concerns of the players

In the spring of 2019, it happened in Indian Wells that Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, presumably having a hot drink together, decided to return to the ATP player council. Maybe because they weren't happy with the development the tour was taking. Maybe because they wanted to oppose an increasingly powerful Novak Djokovic with a weighty opposition. Probably a mix of the two.

Vasek Pospisil, who has been one of the representatives in the ATP circus for years who vehemently demand a redistribution of the revenues of the large tennis business, does not agree with the work of the two legends Federer and Nadal. Pospisil had already warned in the middle of the year that the immense profit on the tour left too little for the players. And that the distribution of the prize money was not fair.

Praise for Djokovic, blame for Federer and Nadal

"Unfortunately, the two of them did not support our movement," Pospisil told The Daily Hive portal. “Judging from my conversations with Roger and what he and Nadal say in the press, I think they have recognized that there is a problem. But they haven't followed the suggestions that support more than 80 of the world's top 100 players. ”

The assessment of Novak Djokovic is completely different. "Novak was incredible," said Pospisil. “Honestly, I didn't know him too well before moving into the player's council. But a connection has developed between us because we look at most topics from the same perspective and share visions of how tennis needs to improve. When we sit together in the player council, Novak really fights for all players, even those with a lower ranking. ”
