It didn't take long for the spark at the premiere of Red Bull BassLine to spread to more than 1,000 spectators. No wonder, as moderator Andi Brewi and DJ Mosaken, who also turned the controls during the rallies, really heated up the atmosphere. Spurred on by the atmosphere, the eight tennis stars didn’t let themselves be asked for long and wowed the fans with loads of magic.

The outstanding player of the evening was the only 18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz , who did not make a single set on the way to victory. A 7: 0, 12:10 at the start in a purely Spanish duel against Feliciano Lopez , Alcaraz, who will also serve in the main competition of the Erste Bank Open, was followed by a sovereign 7: 4, 7: 4 against the Chilean Cristian Garin . In the final, Alcaraz, who is already being traded as the successor to his compatriot Rafael Nadal, was also the outstanding man on the pitch against Stefanos Tsitsipas and gave the Greek 7: 4, 7: 5 the disadvantage.

Tsitsipas loses again to Alcaraz

"This tournament was a really cool experience. The fans went with it, plus the music during the rallies - that was something completely different once. Of course, I'm really happy about the win - especially because I played very well", cheered Alcaraz. Stefanos Tsitsipas, who was very actively involved in the development of Red Bull BassLine, was also satisfied. "I think this is a new, exciting event that the younger fans in particular will enjoy. It got off to a great start here, thanks in part to the euphoric Viennese audience. Thank you very much for going with us," said the current one Number three in the world with the audience and ended the speech at the award ceremony with a congratulations to Alcaraz. "Now I've lost to you again, but you deserve the win," said Tsitsipas, referring to the recent five-set defeat in the third round of the US Open in New York.

For the two Austrians Dennis Novak and Jurij Rodionov , the quarter-finals were over. Novak had to bend 7: 4, 5: 7, 5: 7 after Tsitsipa's strong start. Rodionov lost to Garin 3: 7, 6: 8.
