He was the very big absentee at the previous ATP events since the restart of the traveling circus of ATP professionals, the twenty-time Grand Slam champion, the man with the most weeks at the top of the world rankings, Roger Federer. Since the Australian Open, the "Maestro" has not been seen at work, as the Swiss underwent knee surgery after his semi-final at the first Grand Slam of the year.

The 39-year-old has still not fully recovered from this, as Federer reveals in an interview with Schweizer Illustrierte : "At the moment, more than two hours with the racket are not possible. But I've been working on my stamina and strength absolutely painless for a while There will be no further operations. " But he doesn't put any pressure on himself and takes all the time his body needs to get completely fit again. "I will only intervene in the tournament when I am one hundred percent fit."

"As long as I'm having fun, I'll keep going"

At the moment, it looks like he can make his comeback at the place where the 39-year-old made his last appearance. "It currently looks like I can make my comeback at the Australian Open in January." Of course, the Swiss is aware that his career is coming to an end despite his comeback: "But as long as I have fun and it's all right for all of us, I'll keep going," said Federer.

After that, he will focus on the family, his foundation and his sponsors. Entrepreneurship and various business ideas are also something that interests him very much, according to the Swiss. "But I definitely don't want to plan everything now," said the 39-year-old. At least January 2021 seems to be planned with an extended trip to Australia.
