Tennis star Roger Federer feels the uncertainty in the face of a possible cancellation of the Olympic Games in Tokyo as stressful. "It's difficult," said the 39-year-old on Swiss TV broadcaster Leman Bleu : "We don't hear much. That leads me to believe that the games will take place, even though I've heard that many people in Tokyo are against the games are."

Federer, who has now also been vaccinated, looks at a loss for the Olympics and wants more communication. "To be honest, I don't know what to think," said the Swiss, who is starting the clay court season in Geneva next week. The athletes would finally need a final decision: "Will it happen or will it not happen?"

Corona emergency in Japan expanded

He himself would "like to play at the Olympics to win a medal for Switzerland. But if that is not possible because of the situation, I would be the first to understand."

Most recently, Japan had expanded the corona emergency to three additional regions. In the prefectures of Hokkaido, Okayama and Hiroshima, the restrictions will initially be tightened until May 31, Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said on Friday.
