Roger Federer is at the top in Geneva

Roger Federer's comeback in March in Doha was not particularly successful, in the quarterfinals it put the 20-time Grand Slam winner against Nikoloz Basilashvili out of action. Subsequently, the Swiss resigned from the next tournaments to catch up on his training deficit. In Geneva, however, Federer is returning to the tour.

Like all four top seeded players, the number one of the event enjoys a bye at the ATP 250 tournament and meets Pablo Andujar or Jordan Thompson in round two. Federer has not played a match against either of the two players so far.

After that, the 39-year-old could meet Cristian Garin, who is fifth. The Chilean feels extremely comfortable on clay and last proved this with a win over Stefanos Tsitsipas in Madrid. Should Federer even make the jump to the semifinals, Casper Ruud is the planned opponent of the world rankings.

In second place in Geneva is Denis Shapovalov. The Canadian, who was about to win against Rafael Nadal in Rome , could face Fabio Fognini in the quarter-finals. Other seeded players in the lower half are Grigor Dimitrov and Adrian Mannarino.
