At the French Open, Dominic Thiem had to vacate the facility's largest press conference room for Serena Williams after winning his third round game against Pablo Cuevas. "That is a joke," the Austrian had said at the time. "Federer or Nadal would never do something like that. For me, that shows a bad personality."

At Wimbledon, Serena Williams has now commented on the incident for the first time: "You shouldn't have thrown him out. It wasn't cool." The 37-year-old spoke of a mistake by the organistor and said that the behavior of the officials was rude.

She couldn't quite understand the excitement about her person. "I don't understand why I ended up having a bad personality just because I told them I was wrong with him," said Williams, who failed in the run-up to the press conference with Sofia Kenin.

He is a great player.

According to the American, nothing has changed in her relationship with Thiem: "I still like him. He is a great player. He is incredible." In Wimbledon, she wanted to put the focus back on her game. "To be honest, I'm really too old for a fight like that," said Williams, who meets Giulia Gatto-Monticone in the first round of the third Grand Slam tournament of the year.
