Sascha or Dominic - who will get ahead?

Difficult start task for Dominic Thiem against Sam Querrey - and also Alexander Zverev did not easily hit Jiri Vesely, who played well through the qualification. Our question: Thiem did not play a tournament before Wimbledon, opened Zverev in Stuttgart and Halle / Westphalia. Who will go to the 2019 Wimbledon tournament with the better conditions?

Oliver Fassnacht (Eurosport / DAZN): Starting point: both can reach the second week. Zverev is unpredictable, Thiem is now playing his best tennis in major tournaments. After the draw, I even see opportunities for the semi-finals - for both.

Jens Huiber (sportradio360): The draw in round one with Sam Querrey is actually tough for Thiem. After that there would be tasks that Thiem could master well. Zverev will reach the semi-finals.

Paul Häuser (Sky): If Alexander Zverev gets his double-fault problems under control, then the first Grand Slam semi-final of his career is absolutely right for him. I see Zverev on grass much more strongly than Thiem.

Moritz Lang (Sky): For me, Dominic Thiem is the more stable player at the moment. The gaps in Zverev's matches are too big. Therefore I believe that the Austrian will go further.

Markus Theil (Eurosport): Zverev. He may not be as fit as 1000% as Thiem, but two lawn tournaments as preparatory work more than make up for it.

Jörg Allmeroth (tennisnet): Zverev. Nothing like Thiem is wrong for him. Only feasible for people with much greater Wimbledon experience, such as Novak Djokowic.

Nikolaus Fink (tennisnet): Zverev. The German has a tricky first task ahead of him with Jiri Vesely, but after that the path to a possible semi-final is not too rocky. Thiem, on the other hand, has probably drawn one of the most unpleasant startups with Sam Querrey and has never convinced in Wimbledon. A first round loss would not surprise me.

Stefan Hempel (Sky): Zverev.

Florian Regelmann ( spox.com ): I do n't know. After the draw, I trust them to do absolutely everything from the first round to the semi-finals. However, I feel that 2019 is the year in which Thiem shows us that he can also go far on grass in Wimbledon. I say: Thiem gets further than Zverev.

Andrej Antic (tennisMAGAZIN): Warning phrase: Everything that was before Wimbledon does not matter. Both go in with the same chances. Minimum goal: achieve second week.

Robert Frank (tennisnet): Dominic Thiem. The Lower Austrian is in a much better mood than Alexander Zverev, who is just playing too inconsistently at the moment to be eligible for a Wimbledon victory.

Doris Henkel (FAZ): Dominic Thiem. He is well rested from a short break and the events of the past few months should give him courage. It's hard to say how much planned calm there is in Alexander Zverev's world. Maybe not enough.

Lukas Zahrer (tennisnet): Both Zverev (against Vesely) and Thiem (against Querrey) have unpleasant first tasks for lawn. After that, a lot is possible for both. Thiem's focus was clearly on relaxation. He will outperform his best Wimbledon result so far (round of 16 2017). I see Thiem in the quarter-final against Nadal, but I actually think Zverev is the more dangerous player. Until he meets Djokovic, then Sense.

Sebastian Kayser (BILD): That cannot be said based on this criterion. Nadal also does not play before Wimbledon and will surely reach the semi-finals, but at least the quarter-finals. In this respect, I think that other parameters determine whether someone played before Wimbledon or not. For me, from this point of view, both start the race equally promising.

Alexander Antonitsch (Servus TV): The match practice on turf certainly speaks for Zverev, but he still lacks the self-confidence that is particularly important on turf!
But can change quickly after a few successful matches - and then Sascha can go into the quarter or semi. After the French Open Finale, Thiem is bursting with confidence and feels completely at ease! If he starts well in the tournament you can definitely be trusted in Wimbledon! Semifinals would certainly be in there. But: certainly one of the toughest lots as a set player. Even if Querrey has not played a match since April, he got fit just in time for the grass court highlight and also wins matches, see Eastbourne.

Birgit Nössing (Eurosport): Dominic Thiem because he recovered well from the French Open final and, unlike Alexander Zverev, has enough match practice. He also had a lot of self-confidence when he reached the final in Paris.

Marcel Meinert (Sky): Thiem certainly has the more difficult opening opponent with Sam Querrey. There will be few long rallies and the Austrian will not get many opportunities to find his rhythm. The second week in Wimbledon would be a success for him. At Zverev, a lot depends on the service and a bolder game layout. That is still the crux of the matter for me. Sascha still has to learn to offer the right solutions, especially in negative phases. If it starts with him, he automatically plays more offensive and risky. And then he can reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time.

Florian Goosmann (tennisnet): Thiem. Sometimes less is more, and Thiem finally understood that.
