That's how Alexander Zverev qualifies for the ATP Finals
The ATP Finals without the defending champion? An ugly thought. But Alexander Zverev has his renewed participation in London in his own hands. Here are all scenarios.

Last year, Alexander Zverev had crowned his strong 2018 season with an impressive finish: at the ATP Finals, he beat Roger Federer in the semi-final in a stringent game, dominating the match over both sets with his strong serve in the final against Novak Djokovic.
In the current Race to London Zverev is currently listed on position 7 - the top 8 qualify.
Certainly already there are: Rafael Nadal , Novak Djokovic , Roger Federer , Daniil Medvedev , Dominic Thiem and Stefanos Tsitsipas .
Two places are still open, seven players still have (theoretical) chances to intercept Zverev (2,855 points). These are Matteo Berrettini (2,660 points), Roberto Bautista Agut (2,530 points), Gael Monfils (2,350 points), David Goffin (2,325 points), Fabio Fognini (2,280 points), Diego Schwartzman (2,115 points) and Stan Wawrinka (1,910 points ).
How does Zverev qualify for London?
Zverev but can make clear his qualification in Paris. And so:
- Regardless of the competition, Zverev is there when he wins the tournament or reaches the final.
- The semi-finals will be enough for Zverev if neither David Goffin nor Roberto Bautista Agut win a final against Matteo Berrettini.
- The quarter-finals are reached when Berrettini or Bautista Agut are absent in the final - or one loses there against Gael Monfils, David Goffin or Diego Schwartzman.
- Zverev reaches the round of 16 if only one other competitor overtakes him: Berrettini would then have to reach the semi-finals, Bautista Agut or Monfils into the final. Goffin, Fognini or Schwartzman would have to win.
- If Zverev fails right at the start (in round 2, before he has a bye), also only another competitor should pass him by. Berrettini would need the semi-final, Bautista Agut, Monfils or Goffin the final. Fognini, Schwartzman and Wawrinka would have to get the title.
Zverev meets in Paris after a bye to the winner of the match between Borna Coric and Fernando Verdasco. After that, Fognini could wait. Roger Federer, who was actually listed in Zverev's district, has canceled his participation on Monday.
