The first set alone lasted 67 minutes before the US Open semi-finalist of 2019 won 8: 6 in the tie-break. Berrettini had the first break of the match to 3: 2, Novak equalized to 4: 4. In the second round the early break was enough for the Italian to 2: 0, afterwards Berrettini, who meets Roberto Bautista Agut on Wednesday, served confidently until the win.

In the first game of the day, Andrey Rublev prevailed against Jan-Lennard Struff in the champions tie-break, after which Dominic Thiem defeated Casper Ruud 7-5 and 7-6 (4).
