Alexander Zverev wants to fight now

Alexander Zverev is not far from his domicile in Monte Carlo to Patrick Mouratoglou's academy near Nice. Maybe that's the reason why the German number one is going to hit a show fight - although he had just ruled this out a few days ago. And that had given the organizers of the Berlin event some headaches. Zverev wanted to make friends with his new coach David Ferrer in peace, so now he is holding a competition that is not about ATP points.

Whose time expenditure is also manageable: Zverev is already qualified for the semi-finals and will start on the first weekend in August. In the special format of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, there is also no fear that one of the participants will physically reach their limits: the game will be played in four quarters of ten minutes each.

Zverev had taken part in the subsequently unfortunate Adriatic tour at the beginning of the summer, after which he had received criticism for not having quarantined as announced.

Berrettini wins first edition

As usual with Mouratoglou, every player comes to the court with a nickname, with Alexander Zverev the choice was "the lion". It is a good thing that the King of the Animals brought "the panther" with him, Félix Auger-Aliassime . The Canadian is training at the Mouratoglou Academy but was unable to take part in the first round of the UTS due to injury. Auger-Aliassime is also already in the semi-finals.

While round two of the UTS, in which four women also play out a winner, only lasted for two weekends, the premiere edition had taken ten days to complete. UTS 1 won "The Hammer", Matteo Berrettini , who narrowly prevailed in the final against "The Greek God", Stefanos Tsitsipas .
