The wild card for the men's main competition went to Christoph Krenn and David Alten. The two Viennese were the only red-white-red duo to play in the pre-qualification of a WPT tournament and are now in the main competition for the first time thanks to the wild card. “We have already received numerous inquiries as to when Krenn/Alten will play their first game. That's why we decided to make Wednesday Austrian Day," reveals tournament director Dominik Beier.

Wednesday as Austrian Day

The local heroes will compete on June 8th, the STEFFL Arena will shine in red-white-red. If you buy three tickets for the Austrian Day, you get the fourth one for free, and entry is free with an Austria jersey. Dominik Beier: “The international competition is overwhelming, but maybe something is possible with the home advantage. The Austrian Day will certainly be unique in terms of atmosphere, the hall should cook.”

Already in the pre-qualification from June 5th several Austrians will start in the tournament. Three wildcards were awarded at national tournaments in cooperation with the Austrian Padel Union. Dawn Foxhall/Rebeca Fernandez-Niederacher, Barbara Prenner/Anna Schmid and Christine Seehofer/Elisabeth Seehofer secured the tickets for the women. For men, Dominik Bierent/Kristopher Sortiriu, Thomas Grubmiller/Niklas Schmutz and Michael Brus/Michael Raum were wildcards.

Three-time world champion is there

With Christine Seehofer, a well-known name in sport will also compete. The Viennese is Austria's most successful racketlon player of all time. Only a few weeks ago she announced the end of her career in racketlon, now she and her sister Elisabeth were able to secure the ticket for the pre-qualification of the Vienna Padel Open.

Further promotions await fans during the course of the tournament: Thursday (June 9) is "Students Day", all students receive free entry at the box office upon presentation of their student ID. UNIBET Tryout Day follows on Friday (June 10th) - the day for everyone who wants to get to know and try padel. Even advanced players get their money's worth: together with UNIBET, coaches are made available to all visitors in Hall 3. For advanced players, PADELPOINT also offers the opportunity to test the latest racket models free of charge.

"Padel is more than sport, it's a lifestyle and a special experience - we want to make the Vienna Padel Open accessible to as many people as possible and make it an all-round entertainment event. The World Padel Tour stands for passion, excitement, a good atmosphere and a party mood. The fans go with them, the hall trembles. The best players come, the rallies are spectacular. It will be an all-day experience for all visitors,” says Dominik Beier.
