The 18-year-old son of the five-time Wimbledon champion won his first-round match against the Serbian Marko Topo 6: 3, 6: 7 (2: 7), 6: 0 and thus ensured the first Borg success in tennis mecca since his father's semi-final victory in 1981 against the no less legendary American Jimmy Connors.

Borg senior won the boys' singles at the world's most important tennis tournament in 1972. Four years later, Borg's winning streak at Wimbledon began with five successive title triumphs. In 1981 his run ended with a four-set loss to the American John McEnroe.

In the tradition-steeped history of Wimbledon, father and son first celebrated winning the title in the junior competition. 25 years after the success of the Indian Ramanathan Krishnan, his son Ramesh also entered the list of winners in 1979.

Leo Borg makes his second attempt at the junior title at Wimbledon. In 2019, the son of the eleven-time major winner was eliminated in the first round.
