So far, the German has impressively underlined these ambitions on the pitch. In the first two rounds, Zverev remained without a set loss, the first test against the strong server Taylor Fritz was the world's number sixth despite losing the opening round. Also and especially because of a very strong performance in sets two, three and four.

Zverev was accordingly positive after his progression : "It was the game that I played best in the whole tournament, Taylor is a great tennis player and he made it very difficult for me," said the German, who was in the second week of the lawn classic. In this, the 24-year-old is now building on his experience: "The fact that I was in the second week of a Grand Slam several times helps me a lot because you learn to manage your time."

Because this is the only way to achieve the really big coup, which the native of Hamburg is still extremely keen on: "I'm still very hungry to win a Grand Slam and I hope that this tournament will be my big chance," emphasized the sixth in the world, who now meets Felix Auger-Aliassime. The Canadian benefited from a task from Nick Kyrgios on lap three.

For the youngster, however, Zverev only has words of praise left: "The lawn is his best surface, it can generate a lot of speed with flat balls and is a very aggressive tennis player," said the German. Nonetheless, Auger-Aliassime is a man of the "ideal opponent" brand for Zverev, as the man from the Hanseatic city has won all three previous duels. The next hurdle in the direction of the big title, so it is quite feasible for Zverev.
