Angelique Kerber has two match wins before her second triumph at Wimbledon. The German number one showed a sparkling performance against Karolina Muchova from the Czech Republic and made it into the semifinals with a 6: 2 and 6: 3. Kerber started strong, repeatedly played Muchova's forehand side, which she couldn't cope with. It only got a little hairy for Kerber at the beginning of the second set, when she was 1: 2 behind with a break. But not for long: With four games in a row, Kerber initially put himself in a dazzling starting position, and after 72 minutes served with small problems.

In the semifinals on Thursday, Angelique Kerber will meet either the world number one Ashleigh Barty or Ajla Tomljanovic.

Karolina Pliskova and Aryna Sabalenka will fight for second place in the final. Pliskova had no problems with Viktoria Golubic at 6: 2 and 6: 2., Has now reached at least the semi-finals of all four majors. The Czech is still waiting for her first triumph. Sabalenka, seeded in second position, had to fight harder with Ons Jabeur, but won against the Tunisian 6: 4 and 6: 3.
