It was an epic fight that Veronika Kudermetova and Elina Vesnina and Caroline Dolehide and Storm Sanders fought in the semifinals of the women's doubles competition at Wimbledon 2021. Round one went 8: 6 in the tiebreaker to the two Russians, the Australian-American duo countered 6: 3 in set two and sent the match into a decisive set. In this, Kudermetova / Vesnina proved their staying power and made it into the final with a score of 7: 5.

This is now against the three seeded Elise Mertens and Su-Wei Hsieh. The two had to go over three sets for their entry into the final, had to give up the second round with 6.1 against Shuko Aoyama and Ena Shibahara after winning the opening set. In set three it was again the favorites who had the better solutions and made it 6: 3 to make the final perfect.
