What a success for Nastasja Schunk! The German last made a name for itself at the WTA event in Stuttgart, where Schunk played through to the round of 32 and sometimes caused problems for the top 10 player Belinda Bencic, but ultimately lost out in two sets. Now the 17-year-old is in the final of the Wimbledon junior competition.

In the semifinals, the Mainz woman defeated number one seeded Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva in three sets. After Schunk had won the first set 6: 4, the 17-year-old looked like the sure winner in round two for a long time. Her Romanian opponent, however, made up for a break deficit and secured set two with 6: 4. In the third set, however, it was Schunk again who ultimately acted more confidently and secured the place in the final with 6: 4. In this, Schunk now meets the Spaniard Ane Mintegi del Olmo.
