Novak Djokovic is just a player who can win a match even as a weaker man on the pitch. Because the Serb is always wide awake in the most important moments - and because Novak Djokovic only really seems to shine in pressure situations. So also in the first set in his semi-final duel against the offensive artist Denis Shapovalov. He secured the first break of the game in the third game - from his point of view he was able to defend it up to 5: 4.

Then Shapovalov had the chance to put the sentence in a dry cloth with his own serve. And the Canadian failed. In itself, but also on a strong Novak Djokovic, who made the break at the right time, sent the set into a tiebreak a little later and quickly won the upper hand. The Serb played a solid short decision, benefited from several mistakes made by the 22-year-old and took the first set.

Shapovalov leaves a lot of opportunities

In round two, too, it was primarily the missed chances of Denis Shapovalov that should shape the game at Center Court on Church Road in London. The Canadian had several opportunities to take his serve from the Serbs, but took the break himself when the score was 5: 5 - and had to accept the loss of the set a little later.

The game from the first two sets continued at the start of the third round. Again Shapovalov had the upper hand at the start, found two breakballs at the score of 1: 1 - and his master in Djokovic. The latter, in turn, had two opportunities in the seventh game of the set to take the service from his opponent. This time, however, Shapovalov was able to thwart.

Djokovic breaks again at the right time

And the marmot greets you every day. Novak Djokovic turned it up again when the score was 5: 5, benefited - as so often in this match - from a terribly stray Denis Shapovalov and secured the decisive break in this match after a simple forehand error by the 22-year-old. Because a few moments later, the Serbia's final entry was perfect, after the Serbian had not shown any nakedness when serving.

In the final, Djokovic now faces the Italian Matteo Berrettini, who continued his sensational run on grass with a sovereign four-set win against Federer-conqueror Hubert Hurkacz. The two previous duels between the two went to the Serbs, most recently in Roland Garros, where Berrettini had at least won one set. The final at Wimbledon will take place on Sunday.
