After the championships were canceled this year, the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) announced on Friday that it was developing three scenarios for the implementation: with spectators and full capacity, with a reduced number of spectators and without spectators.
Under the circumstances, holding the Grand Slam tournament has the "top priority", and everything is subordinated to this project, said AELTC managing director Sally Bolton. The final decision depends on the regulations of the state health authorities. The most important thing in this context is to ensure the safety of the players and all those directly involved.
While the US Open this year was played completely without spectators, the French Tennis Association in Roland Garros had allowed up to 1,000 fans to watch Rafael Nadal's 13th title win live. The circumstances for the next scheduled major in Melbourne have not yet been clarified. As of now, all those entering Australia must be in a two-week quarantine. Tournament boss Craig Tiley fights that the players can at least train during this time.
