There were nuances that should tip the scales in favor of the young Spaniard in the first sentence. The match against Tallon Griekspoor was balanced up to the point of 4: 4, then the 19-year-old increased the number of strokes, got the break and served easily to win the set 6: 4.

Similar game in section two: Alcaraz felt the upper hand, but initially did not want to break. This time there was no late break in the seventh place in the world rankings. The logical consequence: A tie-break had to make the decision. And in this Griekspoor saw no land at all and had to give up two rounds after a 7-0 loss.

Alcaraz against Otte

In the third section, Griekspoor initially had the chance to break - but Alcaraz should succeed in this in the following game. The Dutchman was able to hit back again, but with another break and 6: 4, 7: 6 (0) and 6: 3, the Spaniard Alcaraz finally fixed the success, which was safe for long stretches. In round three, the 19-year-old now meets Oscar Otte, who benefited from a task by Christian Harrison after just four games. Possible quarter-final opponent is Novak Djokovic.

Jannik Sinner is also in round three. The South Tyrolean defeated Mikael Ymer in four sets on Wednesday. The Italian is now awaiting the winner of the clash between Andy Murray and John Isner.
