John Isner - new ATP record holder for aces

John Isner played 24 aces on Friday afternoon against Jannik Sinner (the South Tyrolean, who actually served very well, only had two), but these simple points did not help Isner with regard to progressing to the round of 16 in Wimbledon 2022. Sinner won 6: 4, 7: 6 (4) and 6: 3 and will play against Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday, who was able to beat Oscar Otte surprisingly effortlessly.

Isner was perhaps able to console himself with a remarkable achievement: he overtook the previous leader in the all-time statistics for aces, Ivo Karlovic, and now holds 13,748 after the match against Sinner. "Dr. Ivo" had reached 13,728 in his career.

Federer and Lopez in third and fourth place

In contrast to the match in round two against Andy Murray, the serve could not save Isner from all tricky situations. Sinner used two of four break chances - and didn't allow a single one himself. Also amazing: Isner's win rate on the first serve was 75 percent lower than that of Sinner, who won 81 percent.

Incidentally, in third and fourth place in the all-time list are two players who may be able to add a little more. However, without realistic prospects of catching up with Isner, who is still active, and also Karlovic: Roger Federer holds 11,478 aces, Feliciano Lopez at 10,149.
