Norrie also kept British hopes of a home win alive with a five-set win over David Goffin (Belgium). After the 3: 6, 7: 5, 2: 6, 6: 3, 7: 5 in 3:28 hours, the world number twelfth is in the semifinals of a Grand Slam for the first time.

In the first match, Novak Djokovic caught up a two-set deficit against Jannik Sinner. "The experience of having won so many games here has helped me," said Djokovic after his 26th win in a row at Wimbledon and 84th in singles there overall. That puts him on par with Jimmy Connors; only record winner Roger Federer (105) has celebrated more successes.

The starting position before the semifinals on Friday is clear: Djokvic is the favorite in this game. The Serb won the only encounter with Norrie last fall at the ATP Finals in Turin.
