Wimbledon 2022 is also over for Roberto Bautista Agut - without defeat

The bottom half of the tableau at the 2022 Wimbledon tournament was actually very well stocked: Matteo Berrettini, last year's finalist, had just as many chances as Marin Cilic, who had reached the final in London in 2018. And Roberto Bautista Agut was also on the list - the Spaniard can show excellent tennis on grass.

However, it won’t be until 2023 at the earliest. Because Bautista Agut, like Berrettini and Cilic, is no longer represented in the 128 men’s grid due to an acute corona infection. This primarily benefits Daniel Elahi Galan, who entered the third round without a fight. And also opens up opportunities for Denis Shapovalov that the Canadian hadn't counted on after a formidable series of defeats. Shapovalov meets Brandon Nakashima today and would certainly go into the game with Galan as a favorite should he win.

But the Corona bingo continues. Because the question has to be asked anew every day: who trained with whom and who might have contracted the infection? You will only find out if the players (have themselves) tested. Because this is not planned by the organizers.

Here is the men's individual tableau
