After his quarter-finals at the French Open, it became quiet around Novak Djokovic . Even on social media there was nothing to be heard from the Serbian world number one, the defeat against Rafael Nadal must have been too painful. At least that's the impression coach Goran Ivanisevic gave in an interview with "Tennis Majors" .
Ivanisevic particularly disliked his protégé's body language, as he said in the conversation published on June 4: "Everyone noticed. I don't know, we haven't spoken to each other yet. That's why I'm so worried about the match, I can not sleep."
Djokovic misses chances against Nadal
Despite his average performance, Djokovic had chances to force a fifth round. In the fourth section, however, the 20-time Grand Slam champion missed two set balls on his own serve. "You don't know what would have happened if he had won the fourth set. [...] I still don't understand his body language and the lack of energy though. Novak had too many ups and downs while Rafa was consistent and it absolutely deserved to win the match," said Ivanisevic.
Since Nadal then won the title at the French Open, Djokovic is now missing two tournament wins again on the Spaniard (22:20) in the all-time Grand Slam leaderboard. However, at the Grand Slam event in Wimbledon, which begins on June 27th, the Serb is the big favorite for the title - and Ivansiveic believes that Djokovic can reduce the gap to Nadal.
Djokovic probably without a preparatory tournament after Wimbledon
"Even if he needs less time to recover than most, he still has to do it. He has survived tough defeats in the past and I am completely sure that he will be ready for Wimbledon," said the Croatian, who took part Djokovics practically excluded from a preparatory tournament.
"Novak needs to recover well now and prepare physically and mentally for Wimbledon. I'm sure he can do it and I think he will win Wimbledon. I have a good feeling. He needs to focus on grass now." according to Ivanisevic. Djokovic will start in London as the defending champion.
