Wimbledon 2022: Simona Halep storms into the semifinals
Simona Halep became the first player to reach the semi-finals at Wimbledon 2022. The Romanian easily defeated Amanda Anisimova from the USA 6:2 and 6:4. In the semi-finals, Halep plays against either Elena Rybakina or Ajla Tomljanovic.

Simona Halep is still missing two wins for her second Wimbledon triumph. And after the convincing 6: 2 and 6: 4 against Amanda Anisimova, the question arises: who should stop the champion of 2019? As in the previous rounds, Halep was incredibly dominant, played with a lot of overview and once again showed her impressive footwork. Anisimova, who was able to reach a quarter-finals at Wimbledon for the first time, was inferior to her opponent in every respect.

After winning the first set, Halep quickly led 5:2 in the second round, then allowed himself a short time-out. Anisimova, who had defeated her compatriot Coco Gauff on the way to the quarter-finals, came to a first re-break. And made the connection to 4:5. After that, however, the American missed three break chances - Halep won the match after 63 minutes with her first chance.
In the semifinals on Thursday, Halep now plays against either Elena Rybakina or Ajla Tomljanovic.
The first semi-final has been decided since Tuesday: Tatjana Maria also made it into the last four with a three-set win against Jule Niemeier, as did Ons Jabeur, who was victorious against Marie Bouzkova.
