Jannik Sinner is in the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time. And that's a little surprising. Because Sinner prevailed on Sunday afternoon against the slightly favored Carlos Alcaraz 6: 1, 6: 4, 6: 7 (8) and 6: 3. However, the Spaniard also showed what a fighter he is: Because in the tie-break of the third set, Alcaraz had to fend off two match balls. Three more then with their own serve at a score of 2:5 in the fourth round.

So Sinner, who started the game brilliantly, had to serve himself. And the South Tyrolean succeeded after more than three and a half hours of play with some difficulty. Because in the very last game, Alcaraz was able to work out one last break chance. The sixth match ball brought victory to Jannik Sinner.

The task in the quarter-finals will probably be monumental on Tuesday: Because Novak Djokovic is expected to be waiting there, but he has to beat Tim van Rijthoven first.
